Long time no hear

Whew, where does the time go???? We are home, loving it and in mourning because we need to leave to go to Alberta for a few days. We had a wonderful cruise/trip to Hawaii with my birth family in the middle of March. We enjoyed blue seas, cloudy skies intermittant with sun (enough sun that some got a supreme burn) flowers of every colour and seeing all the Hawaiian Islands. A beautiful trip. It was fun to get on a city bus and go north to visit our good friends, Ben and Pat. We surprised them (and us, the bus ride was two hours) but fell in love with their end of the island. A little quieter pace than Waikiki. It amazed us how one side of the island could be so different than the other! We flew back on an all night trip and have been trying to recover ever since. Crocus are blooming and tulips growing here and if it would just warm up, the trees are longing to burst into leaf. Our first spring in BC and we are excited to have no snow and no mud!!!

Aloha

We are off today on an exciting adventure as we cruise the seas with my birth family, 16 in all, 6 teenagers - how fun will that be!! I am looking so forward to terrorizing my nieces and nephews, and my siblings, of course. We have enjoyed our two weeks at home as spring has hinted at its arrival (pussywillows are poking out). We are so blessed with friends and family. We come home to a busy April but are looking forward to continuing to share our early morning coffees - hopefully we will move to the deck!!!! Have a great spring.

Home Sweet Home

After a week long journey, a few days with our children, another day's trip, we are home. How sweet it is. We are enjoying our own bed,but also catching up with dear friends and just enjoying our home. We are looking forward to visits from friends in the coming months. Our snow is almost gone and I have been riding my bike. Today I decided I needed just a little warmer coat!! Not quite spring. To all of our friends from the "foreign country", thanks for a a great winter. Blessings

Heading home

We are on our way back to Canada. It is hard to believe. The winter has gone so fast. We are definitely hoping for spring when we get back to BC. Roads have been good so far except for a little black ice on a pass in Wyoming. We hope to get to Great Falls tonight and are staying in a motel as RVing is getting a little chilly. When there is snow outside your door, perhaps it is time to admit it is winter still!!We are excited to get home and see our family, and K2's new digs. Hopefully spring is not far behind us. Home is looking so good.

Last week down south

Is it possible that our six weeks are up at the end of this week? How times flies. We celebrate Founders Week this week at the school. The flue bug has made its way through some of the campus so lots of people under the weather. All is well again in this household. We enjoyed our cousins for supper (well, we didn't eat our cousins but you know what I mean). The weather has been beautiful and N. has enjoyed riding her bike around campus. It was a laid back weekend and we hope to accomplish much on our last round here. Hope the Lord knows it needs to be spring in BC. We are not quite up to months of snow yet!!! We miss our kids and family but will miss our dear friends here. We have much to be grateful for. See some of you soon.

A beautiful weekend

We had a great time at the beach in some of the nicest weather we have had so far. We played lots of games, suntanned and walked lots. Now we are back at the school working in the high humidity. It is very warm but no snow and for that we are grateful.

Not all work

After much cool weather, we enjoyed a day at the beach with some friends. It was foggy most of the day but still so enjoyable. We watched a kite festival and enjoyed the beauty of the wind and all the kites.

Now we are back to work this week with the air conditioner going!!! It is just like Alberta - mucho changing weather!! Our friend Loren arrives tonight to help down here for a few weeks. We look forward to having him.

Breeze and sunshine

After a rainy, cool, weekend, we finally have the sun today, with a stiff breeze which makes it cool on the skin but bright for the heart. Today began a new work week and I thought I would include a few pics so you could see where we are and what we are doing. This week is one of the highlight weeks as we put on a supper for the students and they share what God has been doing in their lives and provide us with an evening of spanish music. It is always an enjoyable evening. I am also going to see a Christmas house on Wed so will be sure to include pics of that later. H. is not going :) He figures he lives in one of those and doesn't need to go and visit one!! We feel far removed from the Canadian winter as we hear of snow and bad roads. We miss all of you but not the former!!!

BAck in the cool

We enjoyed two days of 80 ish weather but are back to the cold weather. Tonight is foggy, cold and dreary. Howard has been drywalling this week and I am content in the quilt room. We were out for supper with a whack of friends tonight so that was great. We went to a barbeque place that was yummy. Howard had to come home for pie:) We are not missing the cold but are missing our friends and family.

Freezing in Texas

Week one of work has been accomplished. I promise the next blog will have some pics. Today is the coldest day since we have been here. I may actually have to wear a jacket! H. has gone off today on a ranch tour that he has been wanting to see. I am going grocery shopping and finding a pair of runners so it is just that kind of day.

Howard has been busy renovating a house on campus and I made my first quilt top which included music notes. We are getting a little more acclimatized and don't feel quite as exhausted as we did when we first arrived. The sun is supposed to peak out tomorrow and I am ready!!! It amazes me how a little rain turns everything green!

We are off to enjoy our first weekend. Blessings to all of you.

Rain in Texas

It hasn't rained for three months and hasn't stopped since we have arrived!!!. They should be thanking us. Hopefully it won't be this way all the time we are here! It is cool but we are still enjoying our friends and the jobs that we are able to accomplish. Music is in full swing and so we are enjoying being part of that. My guitar is acting up so much that I may actually have to go and get it fixed! We are tired, I think the different location has something to do with that!!. Blessings on all of you.

Almost there

Hey friends, We are almost at our destination in southern Texas. We had a blowout tire today so have to wait and get a new spare tomorrow morning. The weather was clear and beautiful but is still cool. Not as cool as Alberta but not bikini weather ahhhhhhhhhhhhh what a thought!!! We were really tired by the time we arrived at our destination today. Only a few more hours until we get to Edinburgh.

Cheerio

South of the storms

In case you are wondering, we are south of the storms. Although it is not bathing weather, we had some rain today but the sun is trying to shine. We are tiling our friend's kitchen so that is keeping us out of mischief. I am going shopping tomorrow just because!!!

Arizona for a bit

We arrived in Arizona around noon to spend a few days with our dear friends who have a roping arena here. We came through heavy rain in Oregon and Northern Calf. and then hit the winds. Just east of Bakersfield which was a dust driven town, we lost our awning. Every tried to roll up one of those things in hurricane winds. We gave up and cut it off!! We were amazed as a man stopped on the freeway to give us a hand, complete with tools and the necessary screws we needed to fix it. We are so blessed. We are content to be here now in 70 degree weather to enjoy friendship. I am off to tidy the 5th wheel and set up our home. Love to all

On the Road again

After enjoying seeing in the new Year with special friends, we were on the road again as we take the long way to Texas. We spent part of a day in Oregon with the Hammers and were reminded that true kindred spirits can be away a long time from each other yet just pick up right where they left off. It was a shock to see how the kids have grown up but so fun to see the wonderful young people they have turned out to be.

We carried on through breathtaking country as we enjoyed the rest of Oregon. We stopped for the night just into CA to 41 degrees!!!! Hope it gets a little warmer from here. Our plans have changed a bit as we are heading to Buckeye, AZ first and going to Yuma a bit later before we head to Texas for the rest of our journey.

The roads have been great so far and for that we give thanks.

We will keep you posted.
